Disappointment at Silverstone in Britcar 24hrs Support
Race
A huge 54 car entry was taking part in Friday qualifying around the
Silverstone Arena Grand Prix circuit. Kat had set her sites high, after
simulation practice, which was a substitute for no testing for the new
Grand Prix layout. However after leaving the holding area to join the
circuit for qualifying, it became apparent that Kat wasn't going to be
in the hunt. The car was stuck in 6th gear, with a braking issue also
hindering her. Kat limped round for the 20 minute session, which resulted
in her worst qualifying position all year.
Kat had it all to gain in the first of the weekend's races on Friday.
As the lights dimmed, she launched off the line gaining position after
position. Kat worked her way up the order, with some ballsy over takes.
Starting 36th on the grid and finishing 17th when the chequered flag
dropped.
Due to Friday's poor qualifying, Kat had to start from the back of the
grid for Saturday's race. Again, a blistering start saw her quickly
progressing up the order and by lap three, Kat had made up 27 places,
but it wasn't going to last. On the fastest section of the track, Kat
had a brake failure, resulting in the Dallara going off and being unable
to finish the race.
