Relief for F3 Racer, Kat as she gets Back on Track
Kat Impey contended her first ever race meeting in the BRSCC Formula
3 championship at the Kent based circuit Brands Hatch.
Impey completed her first ever race in the BRSCC F3 championship after
an engine blow up in pre-season testing put her out of the first four
rounds. The race weekend was not without it’s hurdles though. In
the official Friday practice Impey had a clutch failure which meant she
lost vital running time in the car. Impey’s team were quickly on
to it and managed to get the car repaired and ready for the race on Saturday.
In the first race Impey worked her way up to 7th before being forced
to retire due to a mechanical fault. The second race started smoothly
but after a few laps Impey yet again had to come in to the pits due to
an engine cooling issue. Fortunately the problem was quickly rectified
by the team and Impey went back out, managing to work her way up to 9th
postion by the chequered flag.

It was a hugely eventful weekend for Impey, whose enrolment on the Motor
Sports Association (MSA) Academy’s Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting
Excellence (AASE) programme marks her out as one of the UK’s most
promising young drivers.
Impey said: “This is a huge relief to finally be back out on track
after a very disappointing start to the season. It has been a very tough
weekend for the team and myself. It was a steep learning curve from start
to finish. The F3 car is very different from my previous car. The F3
car has a massive amount of down force which means to get the car to
handle well you must enter the corner at a much faster speed to keep
it stable. This was making it extremely physical to drive. However, towards
the end of the weekend I started to get to grips with the new driving
technique. Therefore I’m aiming to be even further up the grid
at the next two rounds at Snetterton on June the 31st and August the
1st”
Impey is currently inviting offers from potential sponsors to get involved
in new business advertisement opportunities.
